This plan would have guaranteed health insurance to every American. This proposition did not get broad consumer support, and Congress scuttled it, saying it was too expensive, too bureaucratic, and too intrusive. Despite defeat of that bill, many Americans are still committed to achieving universal coverage for all Americans. Many universal health care advocates favor a national health insurance plan funded by the government. The majority of industrialized nations have such health care systems, sometimes called â€Å"socialized medicine.† However, critics say that the United States cannot afford a national health care system. Moreover, most national health care plans are inferior to the best of our health plans. Switching to a government-funded system would destroy what is good about the present system. The United States has t he best and most advanced health care in the world. Advances in medicine here have saved countless lives and lengthened and enriched the lives of others. Our basic health care system- a combination of private insurance and government programs-works well for most Americans. Prompts work with the intention that individuals have formed to responsibly dispose of litter by providing a cue when the behavior is required. A prompt is especially helpful in a situation where alcohol may lead to forgetfulness and carelessness. As mentioned above, brightly colored trash bins can act as visual prompts to encourage trash disposal. Other physical prompts can also be established at various marinas, boat ramps, and on Masonboro Island itself. Large, brightly colored signs can be posted that remind individuals to clean up after themselves and reinforce the importance of doing so. Additional prompts can be provided via social media. Posts can be published at regular intervals and before major holidays that remind people of the commitment to reduce litter as well as reminding them to actually bring along their trashcans. These posts can include images or info-graphics to model and reinforc e the target behavior. Whether physical or virtual, these prompts serve as simple yet effective cues for individuals to pick up trash.
